Hello, I am Rico!
I am a 1 year old Dutch Shepherd mix. My story sounds like so many others, but my fate wasn’t not always clear. See I was dumped outside of a shelter, and I began following my beloved owner. Well in the mists of me trying to catch my owner, everything went black. I wasn’t sure what was going on, but all of a sudden I was in a lot of pain and I couldn’t move my back legs. Come to find out I was hit by a car, and it crushed my pelvis.
No I shouldn’t have been wandering the streets, but it wasn’t BY CHOICE! I was left. I was abandoned by someone that was suppose to LOVE ME! You left me on the side of the road, and I WAITED FOR YOU, but waiting nearly got me killed. You are the reason I am where I am. ADORE has stepped in to care for me, and love me (and my badly broken body).
I have completed the two surgeries that I needed to fix my badly broken pelvis, and have been on the mend for a few months. However, not only did I have to endure 2 very painful surgeries, but I started to feel sick. The nice people at the vets office did a test on me, and they told me I had something called DISTEMPER. Again, this is something that could have been prevented if the person who LOVED ME, got me vaccinated. It seems I just wasn’t important enough to matter to them.
I am now a healthy happy boy that is looking for a new family that can love me, and promise to never abandon me like my old family did. I promise that I will be the best dog you’ve ever had. I love other dogs and I’m so gentle with everyone. I’m shy at first, but I love people and getting belly rubs.
I am heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped.
