Balto’s story could have ended very differently—but this resilient boy chose to run toward his second chance.

Balto was rescued after it was suspected he had been hit by a car, leaving him with severe injuries that ultimately required the amputation of one of his legs. But don’t tell Balto he’s missing anything! After healing and recovering like a champion, he now runs, plays, and zooms around as if he has all four legs. His spirit is unstoppable, and watching him move is a reminder of just how resilient dogs can be.

At around 3 years old, Balto is the perfect mix of playful energy and maturity. He’s incredibly smart and eager to engage with the people around him. In fact, Balto has never met a stranger—everyone he meets is simply a new friend waiting to happen. His friendly, outgoing personality makes him a joy to be around.

Balto is also a very well-mannered kennel guest. He keeps his space clean and seems to take pride in his tidy habits. We believe he may be dog-friendly as well, and he’d likely enjoy having a canine buddy to play with (proper introductions recommended, of course).

What Balto is really looking for now is a family who will see him the way we do—not as a dog who lost a leg, but as a dog who gained a new lease on life. He’s happy, affectionate, and ready to share his big heart with a home of his own. ❤️
